Gavin & Heather are one of the most amazing couples a photographer could ever hope to work with. They are so in love, and are so flexible and open-minded. They have a huge heart and love art and creativity! I just love them so much. The food was incredible, the venue was gorgeous (Casa deSilva – a private home in Pasadena), the officiant (www.laweddingwoman.com) was passionate and perfect, and the guests were having the time of their lives!
Here are a few unedited photos (teasers / proofs):

I photographed a beautiful couple at their wedding at El Matador Beach in Malibu, CA. They had a simple and beautiful Buddhist wedding surrounded by the natural beauty of the land and sea. They were so much fun, and I absolutely loved their vows and passion for one another!

Networking – Recommend a Vendor

At the networking I went to today at Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, I met some amazing people with very strong passion for their businesses!
If you ever need a great DJ, credit card transaction services for your business, a consultant who can save you even more money in taxes by incorporating large corporation strategies to your small business, need to find alternate uses for every day items, or want to quit smoke, check out these awesome businesses:
Genuine Joye510 Vaporizers & Nicotine Juices
Rebecca: Rebrosa@vel.net / (714) 737-1183 / Website in the works
- Rebecca is a sweet, intelligent woman with a great passion for helping people quit smoking. Her smokeless cigarettes come with nicotine juices that you can get in reduced doses as you get over your addiction. She also sells a non-nicotine version if you just want some yummy strawberry or orange crush vapor! I tried it… very cool! I want to help people stop smoking too, so I HIGHLY recommend this product. It’s rechargeable too! Rebecca will come to you or help you throw a Joye510 Party if you want to be a reseller.
Benchmark Investment Group
Simon Ho: simon@benchmarkIG.com / (626) 484-8088 / www.benchmarkIG.com
- Simon is a great guy with a tremendous talent for helping small business owners find hidden, legal ways to keep more of their income. Large corporations pay much less taxes than small business owners, and it’s because they have great accountants who are paid well to find loopholes. Simon uses the same techniques, but applies them to small businesses to help your company legally save some money. He takes part of the savings, so you won’t have a penny out of pocket! I think his services would be a great help to all wedding vendors who owe taxes each year!
AltUse.com – Alternative Uses for Everyday Products
Benjamin P. Goldfarb: ben@altuse.com / (818) 231-2364 / www.altuse.com
- Ben is very passionate about creativity and he is truly an ideas-man. His company shows you new and exciting ways you can use every day items… ways you never would have imagined! Do a search on his website for any common item you can think of… even wine bottles! Very very cool!
Dandy DJ
Neil Smith: neil@dandydj.com / (818) 754-0828 / www.dandydj.com
- Neil is a true sweetheart and an honest professional. After meeting him, you can tell just how much he loves his job and his life. He had his beautiful baby boy with him today, and man… is he a cutie! When you meet Neil, you can see his heart and passion shine through. He loves being a DJ and emcee’ing parties! He is fun, friendly, and just a great person all around. I checked out his site and video online, and I am really impressed with his company and his passion! I would hire Neil in a heartbeat!!!
Bankcard Services
Ray Kuo: (310) 889-8259 / www.e-bankcard.com
- Ray is a consultant with Bankcard Services, and a really awesome guy. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him about business, life, and networking. He is personable, friendly, and knows his business very well. He gave me some great advice on accepting credit cards as a small business owner; and, when I start bringing in a higher monthly credit card income from my print sales, I am switching from PayPal to BankCard because their rate is so much lower AND Ray and his co-workers are such awesome guys… I would love to have them as my “go to” people for when I need customer service. If you accept credit cards in your business, check them out!
CEO Space, Inc.
Rebecca Olkowski: rebecca.ceospace@gmail.com / (818) 515-7880 / www.ceospacelavalley.com
- Rebecca is super sweet and passionate about helping people. CEO Space is an organization of business owners who don’t compete, but instead, focus on helping one another grow their businesses. It’s a support network, full of great resources. I am very interested in going to one of their meetings to meet these gracious individuals!!!

Motivation

Every business owner needs to stay motivated. In the wedding industry, we (vendors), do not have repeat business. We rely on referrals and new business connections to grow. Sometimes, we get lost in the day to day activities of maintaining our lives and business, and we forget to focus on our goals.
I recently had a powerful conversation with a coach I know, Marianne Emma Jeff. She shared some powerful questions with me; and is, herself, on a mission to have 100 ten minute conversations with others. She gave me an assignment:
In order for me to give 100% each day, what do I have to do (tasks)? The Plan: 1. List what I want to accomplish, 2. Breakdown each task into subtasks, 3. Decide how long each tasks takes, and 4. Schedule my day appropriately so that I can actually ACCOMPLISH some tasks within the hours I am willing to dedicate.
The goal is not to have lingering tasks that go on for days and days. That’s why you have to break down the tasks. So, “clean the house” turns into 1. Scrub the toilet, 2. Wash the towels, 3. Mop the floor, etc. That way, you can guess at how long it will take and actually “accomplish it” within a given day.
At the end of the day, you feel accomplished, and you have given 100% to the task(s) at hand. It’s a very simple, but brilliant idea. I hope I can stick with it.
The assignment involves listing my tasks every day for 100 days and breaking them down and scheduling my tasks and goals to be 100% attainable every day, leaving no lingering tasks that drag on for more than a day. The result should be better sleep and a feeling of accomplishment every day. So, I’m going to do this! I happen to be a perfectionist, and listing my tasks could turn into a few hours of work, so I must also schedule that in! Haha. After that, it should be 10 minutes a day to list the tasks that I CAN accomplish that day, realistically.
If you want a free session with Marianne, follow this link and schedule it. She has at least 40 sessions still open: https://my.timedriver.com/TT6TM. She also emailed me her e-book “100 Days of 100%” which is a wonderful 118 page workbook to help me implement the questions she shared with me (free). She extended the offer of this 10 minute conversation to my friends; and so, I am sharing it with you. Her goal is to finish by Friday, April 16th, so jump in if you want to participate! You can mention you are a friend of mine in the comments, if you want. I know her personally, and she’s truly an amazing woman!
Good luck and best wishes for you during the rest of 2010 and beyond!

Nicole & Josh are such a beautiful couple. They flew me out to Snow Hill, MD to shoot their wedding, and boy was it beautiful there! We stayed at this amazing house from the 1700s, and it had the most incredible feel of history and happiness ringing all about it!
I had such a wonderful time getting to know the couple’s friends and family. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Hopefully one day, I’ll be back there to shoot the groom’s sister’s wedding!
Here are some of my favorite pix from the big day!

Here are some pix from a recent wedding I shot with Michele Schanker. It was a small wedding – beautiful and fun!
The DJ service “Billy the Kid Entertainment” (661) 946-7581 and Seat Covers by “Harts Desire / Laurie Cook” (661) 265-0315 were awesome! I highly recommend both of them! Billy & his wife were extremely entertaining and fun to work with. Laurie is down to earth, extremely professional and friend, and she also sanitizes ALL of her seat covers and bows between EVERY event (which is actually rare in the industry)!
Enjoy the pix!

Passport Photos

This sweet woman calls me today to ask if I do passport photos. She had an urgent need to have one taken today. I advised that I only shoot weddings, but was able to help her by looking online to find her a local passport photo service. I gave her the number for Kinko’s, but I wasn’t sure if this branch actually did the photos. Well, after giving her that number, we hung up so she could call them.
I then looked for other local passport photo services and found a company who was open, close by, and very inexpensive! I called her right back to tell her. She was very thankful, and hung up to head over there… (time passes).
She just called me back to thank me and tell me how much she truly appreciated my help! Wow, what an honor! I didn’t expect a call back, but she took the time to call me thank me. I am seriously touched! The world is a beautiful place!!!
